India is the third largest consumer and producer of fertilizers. Hindustan Dorr-Oliver has installed about 70% of all the phosphatic fertilizer plants on turnkey basis in India. HDO has been a pioneer in the development of continuous process for manufacture of Phosphoric Acid by the wet process. We are also pioneers in setting up high analysis, complex NPK and DAP granular phosphatic fertilizers. HDO introduced the pipe reactor technology in fertilizer plants in India.

Phosphoric Acid Plant: HDO has installed Phosphoric acid plants based on the Dihydrate and Hemi-Dihydrate processes. HDO commissioned the largest phosphoric acid plant at the time, for Paradeep Phosphates Ltd.. We recently installed the biggest horizontal belt filter in the Indian Fertilizer industry for Coromandel International Ltd. (CIL), Vizag plant for filtering Gypsum - Phosphoric Acid slurry; the original plant was commissioned by Hindustan Dorr-Oliver as well. This is one of the biggest belt filter installed in the Indian fertilizer industry for phosphoric acid.

We have installed phosphoric acid plants for Coromandel Fertilizers, EID Parry (now CIL Enore), Paradeep Phosphates Ltd., Sterlite Tuticorin in India.

DAP / NPK Plant: Bulk of the granular phosphatic fertilizer produced in India comes from plants designed and installed by Hindustan Dorr-Oliver like IFFCO Kandla, Madras fertilizer Ltd. Chennai, GFCL Kakinada (now CIL), Zuari Industries Ltd. Goa, EID Parry Chennai (now CIL), Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore Ltd., Udyogmandal etc.

Pipe Reactor: HDO introduced the Pipe Reactor technology in India. It is an improvement over the conventional slurry process utilized for production of DAP / NPK fertilizers. Its advantages include higher production capacity, reduction in production cost, lower energy consumption and ease of operation.

Some of the plants where HDO utilized this technology include GFCL Kakinada (now CIL), EID Parry (now CIL Enore), Madras Fertilizers Ltd. Chennai, and Zuari Goa.

ANP Granulation Plant: Most ANP plants in India use prilling tower to manufacture Ammonium Nitro Phosphate. But due to the hazardous nature of this process it Rashtriya Fertilizers and Chemicals in Mumbai decided to replace the prilling tower with a granulation plant.

HDO installed ANP Granulation plant in India for RCF on a turnkey basis in 2009.

Revamp Projects: Due to current government policies, new fertilizer plants are not being commissioned. However, we receive regular revamp orders by nearly all major fertilizer manufacturers.

We have done revamp work for IFFCO Kandla, GFCL Kakinada, GSFC Baroda, MFL Chennai and Zuari Goa.
